Ik zoek geregeld bij kringloopwinkels naar oude materialen – van een versleten stopcontact tot een filter uit een kinderzwembad. Deze gevonden voorwerpen geven mijn schilderijen een uniek en onverwacht karakter. Mijn nieuwste serie, getiteld HAPPY PLASTIC, is ontstaan vanuit deze werkwijze en laat de kracht van hergebruik op een speelse manier zien.
I regularly look for old materials -from a worn-out electrical outlet to a children's pool filter. These found objects give my paintings a unique and unexpected character. My latest series, titled HAPPY PLASTIC, emerged from this working method and playfully shows the power of reuse of materials.
Je cherche régulièrement dans les magasins de seconde main de vieux matériaux – allant d’une prise usée à un filtre provenant d’une piscine pour enfants. Ces objets trouvés confèrent à mes peintures un caractère unique et inattendu. De wasteland
De natuur stikt. Zelfs in vijvers en moerassen hoopt plastic zich in dikke lagen op. De Wasteland is een walgelijke en giftige plek, waar niemand wil zijn. We bevinden ons te midden van de ruïnes van eindeloze consumptie.
Les Terres Dévastées
La nature s'étoufe. Meme dans les étangs et les marais, le plastique 's'accumule en couches épaisses. Les Terres dévastées sont un endroit répugnant et empoisonné, oú personne ne veut etre. Nous sommes au milieu des ruines d'une consommation sans fin.

De magische natuur
De wereld zit vol pareltjes. Deze aarde laat soms haar betoverende schoonheid aan je zien. Elke keer op een andere manier. Elke kreukel laat een schaduw achter, elke barst geeft ruimte aan licht; het is elke keer anders.
The world is full of gems. This earth sometimes reveals its enchanting beauty to you. Each time in a different way. Every wrinkle leaves a shadow, every crack gives way to light; it's always different.
Le monde est rempli de merveilles. Cette terre te révèle parfois sa beauté envoûtante. Chaque fois d’une manière différente. Chaque pli laisse une ombre, chaque fissure laisse passer la lumière ; c’est chaque fois unique

Het ijslandse landschap is constant in beweging. Gletchers schuren langs de rotsen, breken af, vormen meren of schuiven in zee. Het is de geboorte van een een fjord.
The Icelandic landscape shows constant movement. Glaciers scrape against rocks, break away, form lakes, or slide into the sea. It's the birth of a fjord.
Le paysage islandais est en perpétuel mouvement. Les glaciers frottent contre les rochers, se détachent, forment des lacs ou glissent dans la mer. C’est la naissance d’un fjord.

Diep in de zee
Ik ben opgegroeid in Zeeland. En hoewel ik al heel vroeg de drang had om meer van de wereld mee te maken en zien ben ik nog steeds een meisje van de zee.
I grew up in Zeeland, the Netherlands. Even as a child, I felt the need to discover the world. Yet, I will always remain a daughter of the sea.
J'ai grandi en Zélande, les Pays Bas. Déjà petite, j'éprouvais le besoin de découvrir le monde. Pourtant, je resterai toujours une fille de la mer.

A wonderful world
Ik hoef er niet persé geweest te zijn. Vaak is het meer een voorstelling van hoe een land in mijn fantasie tot leven komt.
I don't necessarily need to have been there. Often, it's more a matter of imagining how a country comes to life in my imagination.
Je n'ai pas forcément besoin d'y être allé. Souvent, il s'agit plutôt d'imaginer comment un pays prend vie dans mon imaginaire.

Aan het begin van de covid pandemie was alles nog onbekend. Later toen er meer bekend werd over het virus werden maatregelen genomen, die niet iedereen leuk vond. Maar ook kritiek was uit den boze. Toch hadden veel mensen daar wel extra behoefte aan.
Au début de la pandémie de COVID-19, tout était encore inconnu. Plus tard, à mesure que l'on en savait davantage sur le virus, des mesures ont été prises, qui n'ont pas été bien accueillies. Les critiques étaient également mal vues. Pourtant, beaucoup en ressentaient le besoin.
